I got this laptop after reviewing almost all Lenovo laptops. I decided to go with this model due to price and I liked the thought of the touch screen as well as the 8 GB of RAM vs. 4 on most of the other models I looked at. Having said that, I’m a CPA and own a small business….this computer is able to handle everything I need, and has a number pad built into the keyboard which is crucial for what I do. My only gripe thus far is that even with the brightness turned up to the highest setting, it still isn’t quite as bright as I like it. I do like that I can flip the keyboard back and use it like a tablet on a stand, and the touch screen does have a pop up keyboard for use when it’s in the stand mode. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase.

This laptop is just as good as I thought it would be, and it’s selling at an unreal price. I never thought I could get such good performance without spending my life savings. You won’t get these specs anywhere else at this price, especially for something this well built that can also be switched to a tablet-with-stand mode. And when I say well built, I mean it. The hinges on the flexible part are extremely sturdy and it seems like they’ll last forever. The outer material has a very nice, smooth feel to it. Even better is the area around the keyboard, including the palm rest. It’s very metal-like. And although the entire laptop isn’t metal, it’s still a very beautiful, professional look in person. The keyboard is amazing. It took me about 10 minutes to adjust to it from my desktop keyboard and I can type very speedy without thinking about it. It includes volume control, brightness control, airplane mode, and a few other keys that I haven’t really experimented with. It even includes a numpad, so if your work or business crucially requires it, then this is the machine for you.

The touch screen works great and is very responsive. The advantage of having a touchscreen on a 15.6 inch screen is that it’s very accurate, because any icons or buttons that would be really tiny on a smaller screen are not that hard to touch on a 15.6 inch. The resolution is quite low but it isn’t bothersome. It still looks wonderful. One thing is that the screen picks up finger prints easily, but then again most screens in general do.

The touchpad is perfectly sized and is responsive. It’s a one piece touchpad, which means the right and left click buttons are conjoined. Again, the touchpad and palm rest do pick up finger prints but mostly if your fingertips are oily and sweaty, as usual (nothing to really complain about).
The machine runs very fast considering it’s a laptop. It runs on the newest Haswell 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor. With 8 GB of memory, again, it’ll be tough to find a laptop of this quality with those specs at this price.
The sound is nothing to boast about, but it does sound really well. The ports on the machine suit my needs: 2 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0, an HDMI port and even SD reader. However there’s no DVD drive, I haven’t found a need for it yet. I have an external USB DVD drive anyways.

Battery life is excellent. I’m getting about 7 hours at full charge, which is even more than enough for me. It’s not too heavy, and this plus the good battery life makes it a good portable laptop if you’re on the go. Charging to full takes about an hour, give or take.

Windows 8 is optimized for the touchscreen. I was skeptical at first, thinking I wouldn’t even use it. But with Windows 8 being built FOR touchscreen I found myself poking at the screen more than necessary. It’s kind of fun, actually. I even updated to 8.1 for free through the Windows store, which includes more personalization and enhanced features. To do this, however, you must first run Windows Update through PC settings. I had about 65 updates to install fresh out the box, which took about an hour. Updating to 8.1 took about 3 hours but I just left it on overnight so it wasn’t too bad. You can still use the laptop when updating to 8.1.

I love this device and I plan on keeping it for a very long time. I’m happy I bought it and would do it again if I had to. If I encounter andyproblems I will update this post, otherwise it’s all going great for me.

I bought this laptop from amazon on cyber Monday. i am surprised that price is still the same, and even on cyber Monday it was cheaper than lenovo site. I have to say this is what I wanted, great touch screen so far, great performance, and for those who are saying it doesn’t have SSD, I have to say it has 8Gb of SSD in a smart way, you can read here: http://www.seagate.com/www-content/product-content/momentus-fam/momentus-xt/laptop-sshd/en-us/docs/laptop-sshd-laptop-thin-sshd-data-sheet-ds-1784-1-1302us.pdf

Speakers are perfect, keyboard could have backlit, CPU and RAM is enough for any normal use (I am student, and i play games sometime, and more coding and running different programs like Matlab)

You can say resolution is low compare to now a day laptops but I feel good with it, and I actually don’t need high contrast screen.
